'Black cumin seed oil contains a known immune modulator that could potentially help millions of people dry up their sinuses.
Now, we’re not talking about the spice cumin — that’s a totally different plant species from black cumin. This is something else entirely.

So, although I would always advise to cook liberally with cumin, it probably won’t help your runny, itchy nose. Sorry.

But black cumin, however, may very well help because it provides thymoquinone — an immune modulator.

Let's explore how it works.'

By Dr. Mercola

'Spring allergies affect an estimated 25 million Americans, and according to the American Board of Allergy and Immunology, we’re looking at one of the worst allergy seasons in a long time, thanks to a number of climactic factors.

The Asthma and Allergy Foundation's annual list of the worst cities for those with spring allergies (based on tree pollen counts) include the following five:

  • Jackson, Mississippi
  • Knoxville, Tennessee
  • Chattanooga, Tennessee
  • McAllen, Texas
  • Louisville, Kentucky
Airborne pollen is the most common cause of seasonal allergies, also known as hay fever or allergic rhinitis. Early arrival after a mild winter has spawned high levels of pollen, and means allergy season will linger weeks longer. Both 2011 and 2012 reported record-breaking pollen numbers, and this season will likely break those records.'

'Tap water is chlorinated with a chemical called dicholorophenol. This chemical is also in pesticides used on fruits and vegetables.

A study published in the journal, Annals of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology in 2012, found an association between dicholorophenol in the urine of individuals and a greater sensitization to food.

High levels of Dichlorophenols Equal Greater Chance of Allergies

Researchers found that people with the highest levels of metabolites of dichlorophenols in their urine also had greater chances of having a food allergy. Dichlorophenols are a kind of chlorine in certain pesticides that are used to kill bacteria. While they may kill the pathogenic bacteria, they may also kill the beneficial bacteria — which can lead to causing food allergies.'

Salty Nasal Irrigation Safely Relieves Hay Fever Symptoms

Salty Nasal Irrigation Safely Relieves Hay Fever Symptoms

'Research from Italy's University of Milan has confirmed that nasal irrigation with a saline solution with more salt content significantly lessens allergy symptoms and the need for medications.

The research was conducted on 220 children with allergic rhinitis to grass pollen – commonly known as hayfever - who were between five and nine years old. The children were randomized into three groups. One group of 80 children was given nasal irrigation twice a day using a normal saline solution. Another group of 80 children was administered nasal irrigation twice a day using a hypertonic saline solution (containing more salt). The last group of 60 children was given no nasal irrigation.'

'There’s a growing consensus that this allergy season will be pretty bad. The hot summer means many plants are producing more pollen than normal and ragweed allergy season may last into November. For the 20 percent of us that suffer with hay fever, the beautiful autumn days can be tarnished with constant sneezing and itchy eyes. 'It may seem hard to get excited about consuming a plant which is commonly referred to as, "Stinging Nettles." Many people know the herb as an annoying garden weed, or a dangerous plant to avoid.
