'Many have speculated that our consciousness is activated during daydreaming. Past research has shown that the brain seems to contain a “default mode” in which certain regions become more active at rest. While moments for reflection may be hard to come by, a new study suggests that the long-lost art of introspection — even daydreaming — may be an increasingly valuable part of socioemotional functioning.' 'With the discovery that the unconscious mind plays a key role in the placebo effect, researchers have identified a novel mechanism that helps explain the power of placebos and nocebos. Much of medicine is based on what is considered the strongest possible evidence: The placebo-controlled trial. A paper published in the October 19 issue of Annals of Internal Medicine -- entitled "What's In Placebos: Who Knows?" calls into question this foundation upon which much of medicine rests, by showing that there is no standard behind the standard -- no standard for the placebo.' 1 in 4 Americans will develop cancer at some point in their lives. Yet, the current medical establishment focuses on "early detection" as a primary means of prevention and views cancer as a fatalistic disease only to be treated with chemo, surgery and radiation. Drawing from exciting new developments in the fields of nutrigenomics, epigenetics, whole food nutrition, and mind-body medicine, this 3-part course, will explore this alternative view of cancer causation, as well as the profound implications this will have for those who wish to take back control of their health, or that of their loved ones.'
'The Vancouver-based Dr. Gabor Maté argues that too many doctors seem to have forgotten what was once a commonplace assumption - that emotions are deeply implicated in both the development of illness and in the restoration of health. Based on medical studies and his own experience with chronically ill patients at the Palliative Care Unit at Vancouver Hospital, where he was the medical coordinator for seven years, Dr. Gabor Maté makes the case that there are important links between the mind and the immune system. He found that stress and individual emotional makeup play critical roles in an array of diseases. [includes rush transcript]'
'Most people have heard of mindfulness. Like meditation, it has become a fairly common term in general use. It has also become more accepted in western psychology as having therapeutic benefit. Many books have been written on the topic, and yet there remains much confusion in terms of just what mindfulness is and how to apply it on a daily basis to heal and find greater freedom. This is especially true with regard to difficult or emotional situations. It’s easier to be mindful of a sunset compared to the intense anger in a fight with a partner.'
'The mind is powerful – much more powerful than many individuals recognize. If you were to harness the potential of this energy transmitter in your head, then great feats could be reached far beyond what can currently be conceived. Scientists have already proven that your thoughts are powerful determining factors in your overall health, and that your mindset can ultimately create — or delay — self-healing.
Whether it be thinking your way to wellness, or simply coming to a realization that you are fully capable of being healthy, the road to such successes is not a difficult one to travel. In fact, even the key to powerful fat loss can also be found in the way you think.'
'If you are struggling with any major health concern, it is important to realize that your mind can sometimes be your own worst enemy, or it could be the main reason for treating a problem.
Increasingly, it is being recognized that a ‘mind over matter’ approach can actually produce noticeable results in your health.'
'You have probably at some point in your life heard about the power of positive thinking. A lot of focus in fact has been given to this idea, especially in the last 2 decades.
While it is no surprise that positive thinking makes us feel good, it may come as a surprise to you that positive thinking may also heal our ailments, whether they be physical or psychological.
But is it that easy? Do we just think happy thoughts and everything goes perfect? Well the answer is no. In fact, we need to take a deeper look into just how intricately our thought process is tied to our health and healing.
To help us do this, we are going to examine this topic, with a special video from world renowned author and biologist, Dr. Bruce Lipton.'
'A last-minute notice of a seminar in Phoenix results in this remarkable Talk For Food program, when Adam talks with Alexander Teetz (“tates”), of the SVET Center in Hamburg, Germany, becoming one of the first media people to discuss the groundbreaking healing work of two Russians, Grigori Grabovoi and Arcady Petrov.
'The SVET Center for Mental and Spiritual Technologies was founded by Svetlana Smirnova, a neurologist from Omsk, Siberia, and student of Arcady Petrov, whose school teaches, among other things, clairvoyance. Petrov, who himself studied universal principles espoused by Grabovoi and presented himself as proof of said principles when his gallbladder regenerated, has witnessed and facilitated many cases of organ regeneration at his Moscow clinic.
Interest in their healing methods, wherein consciousness and intention are integral aspects, in conjunction with a series of outlined exercises, is growing. The principles indicate that their power to transform our reality rests within each of us, with no regard to nationality, title, social or economic standing, or severity of disability. A willingness to be one with the Original Information Matrix of Creation, is all that is necessary.
Smirnova and Teetz have been instrumental in translating the works of Grabovoi and Petrov from Russian into German, and now, into English. In only their third trip to the United States, their path (and hearts) led them to Arizona, and now, into your mind.
The world is surely headed for a wonderful change.'
'Here's the thing: it's not just the big ups and downs that affect your health via your mind-body connection. This connection is on at all times.
Every thought and emotion that courses through you influences your health. Your thoughts and emotions affect blood flow, the strength of your immune system, healing capacity, and every other aspect of your physiology.
You can see evidence of this undeniable connection between your ongoing emotions and your health in everyday life. Have you ever woken up from a bad dream, covered with a thin coat of sweat? Nothing but your dream – thoughts and emotions – caused a series of chemical reactions that resulted in real physical change: production of sweat from your sweat glands.
Have you ever had your mouth water at the thought of eating a particular food that you had a strong craving for? How about saliva production at the thought of drinking a large glass of cold, tart, super sour lemon juice? Clearly, your thoughts and emotions are capable of causing physical contraction of your salivary glands.'
'Physician Gabor Maté argues too many doctors ignore what was once a commonplace assumption, that emotions are implicated in the development of illnesses and in their healing.'
January 2, 2011 | Editor's note: 'the following is an interview with Canadian physician and bestselling author Gabor Mate, on the relationship between emotions and the body. Dr. Maté argues too many doctors seem to have forgotten what was once a commonplace assumption, that emotions are deeply implicated in both the development of illness, addictions and disorders, and in their healing.'
'Dr. Maté came on Democracy Now! this year to discuss his book When the Body Says No: Understanding the Stress-Disease Connection. Based on medical studies and his own experience with chronically ill patients at the Palliative Care Unit at Vancouver Hospital, where he was the medical coordinator for seven years, Dr. Maté argues that stress and individual emotional makeup play critical roles in an array of diseases, including cancer, heart disease, diabetes, multiple sclerosis and arthritis. Speaking to us this time from Vancouver -- it was actually during the Vancouver Olympics -- Dr. Maté began by explaining his analysis of the mind-body connection.'
'"My problem was severe pain in both forearms for over 3 years. Nothing helped, including physical therapy, splints, and opiate medications. I used a guided imagery CD, and the image that came for the pain was steel rods in my arms. The CD asked me what qualities the rods had and I noticed they were rigid, cold, hard, and unyielding. It made me think of my grandfather who I had cared for in his last years, who was just like that. The pain had started during that time. With my imagination, I asked him why he was like that, something I was never able to do in life. In my mind he answered that he was brought up to be like that, but that he loved me very much and appreciated all the help and love I gave him. I imagined that we hugged and could feel warmth from him. I cried so much I thought my heart would break. The next morning when I woke up I had about a third of the pain I’d been having. I went to a grief counselor and had about six sessions, and continued to “talk” to my grandfather in my imagery. I now have no pain and am on no pain medications." Dorothy W., 48, Madison, WI."'
