'The re-definition of polio as accute flaccid paralysis or AFP in places where vaccination has "eradicated" the illness is by no means limited to India. It has been practiced in the Western countries first.
Indeed the 'victory over polio' with the help of vaccines has only been possible by hiding the real paralysis cases that were previously ascribed to the polio virus as another illness.
Statistics from several countries show that, as polio goes down, AFP goes up.
It is a well practiced vaccinators' trick.'
