What is Atomic Iodine?

ED NOTE: Although this author explains why atomic iodine is the most effective and bio-available form of iodine supplementation, implying other iodine supplements as toxic is misleading. This same author had mentioned four of five other valid iodine supplements in an earlier article. And the doctor he references in this article, Dr. David Brownstein, also has his own formula and supports other forms as well.

'Atomic iodine, also known as atomidine and nascent iodine, is considered the safest and most effective iodine supplement available.

Unlike elemental (or molecular) iodine which is toxic, this form of iodine holds its atomic structure making it safe for consumption and topical use. This atomic structure is the same form of iodine the body creates from dietary iodine, making atomic iodine a highly bioavailable supplement.'

Iodine: A Breast Cancer Cure?

Iodine: Breast Cancer Cure?

'Could iodine be a breast cancer cure?

One of my good friends died last year of breast cancer. She was in her 40s. Nowadays, none of us are immune. One in 8 women in the US are diagnosed with breast cancer.
Iodine: Breast Cancer Cure?

I’ve been reading the new book, The Iodine Crisis: What You Don’t Know About Iodine Can Wreck Your Life by Lynne Farrow, founder of BreastCancerchoices.org. (Look for my review on the blog soon.)

Here are some interesting quotes from the book:

Breast cancer rates have risen since the 1970s as iodine consumption decreased and anti-iodine bromine exposure increased.'

Are You Getting Enough Iodine in Your Diet From Real Food?

www.mypicshares.com

'Iodine is an important nutrient no one should be without. Our soil used to contain adequate amounts of iodine and other important minerals, but commercial farming methods have depleted our once fertile soils.

Iodine deficiency is a common problem in the U.S., even though refined table salt has iodine added to it. This is because fortified, white table salt is highly refined and contains mostly sodium chloride with most of the trace minerals removed and synthetic iodine added back in, and our bodies have a difficult time absorbing it. Although a lot of real food folks are switching to sea salt, which does contain a great deal of trace minerals we are missing in our diets, there isn’t enough iodine in sea salt to provide what humans need.'

Metabolism and the Thyroid

Thyroid System

'Often referred to as the “master gland,” the thyroid manages important body processes, including protein creation, energy levels, and metabolism. Because metabolic output is often related to body mass, proper thyroid function is instrumental when you’re trying to regulate your body weight. Thyroid deficiencies can lead to weight gain or problems such is hypothyroidism, which is a lack of thyroid hormones and commonly is preceded by iodine deficiency.'

The Number One Reason So Many Women Have Trouble Losing Weight

'If I were to have a penny for every woman that comes into my office with a weight loss complaint, I would be taking many more vacations. Thousands of women have expressed their inability to lose weight no matter how hard they diet, exercise or eat ‘healthy.’ While there are many variables and circumstances that cause this difficulty, there is one factor that persists more than any other.'

Iodine to the Rescueimage

'Anyone who tells you to stay away from iodine is a medical idiot. Actually that statement does not cover the story of medical cruelty and the pharmaceutical terrorism that is centered on iodine phobia that is rampant in the medical world today. One of my neighbors, who has cancer, recently visited the Gerson Clinic in Mexico and came back with a protocol suggesting one drop of Lugol’s a day.[1] I of course have him taking much more.

Dr. Gabriel Cousens recently wrote, “Recently Dr. Mercola surprisingly stated that the highest amount of daily iodine intake should be no more than 400 micrograms. This is only slightly higher than the FDA recommendation, which is 150-290 micrograms daily, dependent upon age, gender and life cycle. However, it is dramatically less than what some of the leading iodine medical experts suggest, as closer to, at least, 12-18 milligrams daily, approximately 45 times higher. Why this discrepancy? And how can Dr. Mercola, who is often so correct in his understanding, in my opinion, miss the mark exponentially?”'

IODINE IS VITAL FOR GOOD HEALTH

'Forty years ago the food industry decided to remove iodine from baked goods and replace the iodine with bromine. Iodine and bromine appear similar to the thyroid gland and bromine easily binds to the thyroid gland’s receptors for iodine. Bromine, however, is of no value to the thyroid gland unlike iodine and it inhibits the activity of iodine in the thyroid gland. Bromine also can cause impaired thinking and memory, drowsiness, dizziness and irritability.

This substitution of bromine for iodine has resulted in nearly universal deficiency of iodine in the American populace. Iodine therapy helps the body eliminate fluoride, bromine, lead, cadmium, arsenic, aluminum and mercury. Could this substitution of bromine for iodine have been carried out to increase diseases and thus create more need for pharmaceutical drugs?'

Iodine Protects Against Fluoride Toxicity

http://www.lovethetruth.com/fuoride_vs_lead2.gif

'The toxicity of modern life is impacting iodine levels and in the countries that fluoridate their water this impact is maximized. It is well known that the toxic halides: fluoride and bromide, having structure similar to iodine, can competitively inhibit iodine absorption and binding in the body.

All the halogens use the same receptors in the body so fluoride’s danger for people is centered in great part on this fact. Americans and Brazilians, who are more exposed to fluoride than other populations, have a desperate need for more iodine.

Taking iodine in its nascent form is not only the best way to increase iodine levels in the safest and most effective way possible for adults and children whose thyroids are already compromised, but it will also greatly aid in ridding the body of dangerous fluoride, bromide, chlorine, perchlorates and heavy metals.

In our age of increasing radioactivity and toxic poisoning specifically with fluoride,[1] chlorine, bromide, and even mercury, iodine is a necessary mineral.'

Iodine Is Essential for Everyone

by Dr. Mark Sircus

'This book tells the iodine story that has become especially important as radiation levels increase because of the nuclear disaster in Japan. Everyone needs to hear the iodine story for there is nothing more important in the entire world now than taking our daily iodine supplements. An appropriate public health response to the nuclear disaster in Japan starts with iodine because any lack of the nutritional type will attract the radioactive type like honey attracts bees.

The last thing anyone wants to be walking around with is a thyroid so starving for iodine it will take on the nasty radioactive isotope of iodine instead. It is very important to know that Dr. David Brownstein has tested 5,000 of his patients and has found out that 95 percent of them are iodine deficient and other iodine researchers he has talked to have found similar trends in their patients as well.'

Can Iodine Help With Hair Loss?

http://www.iknowhair.com/wp-content/uploads/hair_loss_remedy.jpg

'It is clear that the micro-nutrient iodine (as well as iron, magnesium and zinc) is a key essential element for the normal growth and development in all of the body’s organ and tissue systems. In fact, iodine, in combination with the aforementioned minerals are often considered the best “hair growth minerals” you can take for healthy hair. And if you are currently experiencing hair loss, it may be a good idea to supplement with these, as hair loss can be one of the most common signs of a deficiency in iodine.'
