Avoid Diabetes & Heart Disease with Sunlight or Vitamin D3

'Modern medicine has a lot to answer for, not the least of which is the harm done by treating sunlight as dangerous. The heart disease and diabetes epidemics can be laid at their feet for that travesty alone.'

'A new study adds to the litany of research demonstrating the enormous benefits of Vitamin D3, and by extension, sunlight. The latest, published in the Journal of Biological Chemistry, documents that Vitamin D3 is a critical factor in diabetic heart disease1.
The inflammatory process is damaged in diabetes. Among other things, it causes monocytes, a type of white blood cell, to adhere to blood vessel walls. When diabetic patients’ blood levels of Vitamin D3 [25(OH)D] are under 30 ng/mg, monocytes were far more likely to adhere. When patients with diabetes maintained a Vitamin D3 level greater than 30 nanograms per milliliter, far fewer monocytes adhere. Thus, the clogging of arteries, which is associated with heart disease, is much improved when diabetic patients have adequate levels of Vitamin D3'.

How to Get Vitamin D Without the Sun

Sunflower in sunshine

'Certainly, it’s best to get your Vitamin D from the sun. It’s the most natural approach. However, there are other ways if needed. Here’s a guide to those sources, and how to convert IUs to milligrams.'

'While it’s best to obtain your Vitamin D3 by sun exposure, nowadays it simply isn’t practical for most of us to spend that much time outside. There’s no need to worry, though. Two good options for getting the D3 you need are readily available. One is through suntanning booths and beds, and the other is via supplements.
First, though, let’s take a look at what foods provide D3. Although there’s a diet that can supply adequate D3, it isn’t one that’s readily available to most people, and frankly, unless you’ve grown up with it, the chances are you’ll find it less than appetizing. It’s virtually all meat and animal fat, and much is eaten raw. D3 and other vitamins are readily available in the flesh, organs, and blubber of far north animals, unlike those of lower latitudes. While this diet isn’t readily available to most people, or desirable, it does demonstrate that D3 can be obtained through diet.'

Vitamin D ‘Fails’ to Lower Cholesterol: So?

A completely useless, frankly stupid, study shows that Vitamin D ‘fails’ to lower cholesterol – but the idea that it would lower cholesterol never made sense in the first place, which the researchers should have known.

'Cholesterol is required to manufacture Vitamin D. So, if Vitamin D is provided in a pill form, why would anyone expect cholesterol levels to be affected? It makes no sense. In fact, the study managed to demonstrate exactly what one would expect: Taking Vitamin D has no discernible effect on cholesterol levels, whether your concern is LDL, HDL, or triglycerides (which aren’t cholesterol, anyway).
Though this pseudo study would have you believe that Vitamin D is useless, the truth is completely different. In fact, people with low levels of D have 77% more heart disease than those who have only moderate levels. That should be the real eye-opener for these researchers. In combination with their useless study, it demonstrates the fact that Vitamin D improves heart health without having any effect on cholesterol.'
