The Benefits of Flaxseed

flax seed

'Is flaxseed the new wonder food? Preliminary studies show that flaxseed may help fight everything from heart disease and diabetes to breast cancer.'

'Some call it one of the most powerful plant foods on the planet. There’s some evidence it may help reduce your risk of heart diseasecancerstroke, anddiabetes. That’s quite a tall order for a tiny seed that’s been around for centuries: flaxseed.
Flaxseed was cultivated in Babylon as early as 3000 BC, according to the Flax Council of Canada. By the 8th century, King Charlemagne believed so strongly in the health benefits of flaxseed that he passed laws requiring his subjects to consume it. Fast-forward 13 centuries, and some experts would say we have preliminary research to back up what Charlemagne suspected all those years ago.'

Cancer Revisited: The Industry Suppressed Budwig Regimen or How To Cure Cancer With Cottage Cheese

  Written by Sarah Cain

'Most cancer cures (not treatments) involve adjusting the body's pH beyond neutral, and into an alkaline state.  In the alkaline state, human blood is rich in oxygen, and this same oxygen is poisonous to all mutated cancer (fermenting) cells.  Oxygen is, of course, harmless to healthy cells ― and we're not going into that whole free radical thing here ― except to say that oxygen is never an issue with a healthy (anti-cancer) diet.  Whilst naturally mocked by the industry, the generalized anti-cancer alkalizing diets are effective, and certainly merit further reading.

Dr. Budwig found a way to do it better and faster.  She turbo-charged her anti-cancer diet with a solution made from common flax seed oil and cottage cheese.  She discovered that even the so-called "healthy" (fat free) diets were a huge part of the problem.'

Confirmed: Flaxseed Contains 'Estrogens' That Regress Cancer

Flaxseed Contains 'Estrogens' That Regress Cancer

'How does flaxseed work to prevent and/or regress hormone-associated cancers? The surprising answer is it is due to flaxseed's distinctively hormonal and/or hormone-modulating activity. Flaxseed contains compounds known as phytoestrogens which have the ability to interact with cellular estrogen receptors.

Although an increasingly common mantra in the conventional medical community (particularly in the field of oncology) is to identify all estrogens, including phytoestrogens, as "carcinogenic," the weight of the evidence stands against this accusation, both in the case of soy and flaxseed.

Our indexing project, for instance, has identified 36 studies on soy's anti-breast cancer properties. It helps to understand the biochemistry in order to make sense of how a plant estrogen may actually reduce estrogen activity in the body.'

'Wondering why there's so much interest in flax lately? It's because flax oil and flax seeds have been shown to lower blood cholesterol and triglycerides without side effects, and to help reduce damage to cell membranes.

Flax is also important in the body's ability to reduce inflammation and prevent the many degenerative diseases associated with it. Studies have shown that women with a high intake of flax oil and flax lignans are at much lower risk of developing breast cancer.

Research is now documenting the benefits of flax oil, lignans, and flax meal in preventing and treating cancers of the gastrointestinal tract and colon, and breast cancer metastasis.'
