Paul Offit and the Vaccine Industry

'Then there's Paul Offit, perhaps the most widely-quoted defender of vaccine safety. He's gone so far as to say babies can tolerate "10,000 vaccines at once." This is how Offit described himself in a previous interview: "I'm the chief of infectious disease at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and a professor of pediatrics at Penn's medical school," he said.

Offit was not willing to be interviewed on this subject but like others in this CBS News investigation, he has strong industry ties. In fact, he's a vaccine industry insider. Offit holds in a $1.5 million dollar research chair at Children's Hospital, funded by Merck.

He holds the patent on an anti-diarrhea vaccine he developed with Merck, Rotateq, which has prevented thousands of hospitalizations [so it is claimed]. And future royalties for the vaccine were just sold for $182 million cash. Dr. Offit's share of vaccine profits? Unknown.'

NJ Attempts to Strip Parental Rights with Vaccine Anti-Exemption Bill

'All 50 states across the nation offer parents the ability to exempt their child(ren) from vaccination requirements. This week, however, New Jersey legislators advanced a bill that would make such exemptions harder for parents to acquire in an attempt to crackdown on “easy exemption policies”.

Senate Bill 1759 was approved 6-2 by the state’s Senate Health, Human Services, and Senior Citizens Committee last week. The bill, sponsored by Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg (D – Bergen) and Senator Joseph Vitale (D – Middlesex), would place a greater burden on parents to clarify a “valid reason” for not wanting their kids vaccinated. It would define and further restrict what the definition of a valid reason is, limiting options for opting out.'

'A current California bill, AB 499, would "allow a minor who is 12 years of age or older to consent to medical care related to the prevention of a sexually transmitted disease."

[1] That is, children as young as 12 will be able to get a Gardasil or other STD vaccine without their parents' knowledge or consent if this bill passes. Disturbingly, North Carolina has a much broader child consent law already on the books: "Any minor may give effective consent . . . for medical health services for the prevention . . . of venereal disease and other [reportable] diseases..."

[2] I call these laws "Stealth Vaccine Laws" because they provide for the administration of vaccines without the word "vaccine" or "immunization" appearing in the law. From the first human vaccines developed two centuries ago, smallpox and rabies vaccines, death has always been a complication of vaccination.^{1 2} In 1933, the whole cell pertussis vaccine's ability to kill without warning was first reported in the medical literature when two infants died within minutes of a pertussis shot^.3 In 1946, American doctors detailed the sudden deaths of twins within 24 hours of their second diphtheria-pertussis shot.⁴ In 1986, the U.S. Congress passed the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act and has awarded over $2 billion dollars in compensation for deaths and injuries caused by vaccines.⁵

US Hospital Workers Fired For Refusing To Take Swine Flu Jab

PHILADELPHIA - December 4, 2009 (WPVI) -- 'This year, the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia made it mandatory for employees to get the seasonal flu shot. There were some exemptions made for medical or religious reasons, but some employees were denied that exemption and because they wouldn't get the shot they lost their jobs.

"We're very concerned because this is our livelihood, this is our main source of income, my husband and I, we have a mortgage; we have 5 children," terminated employee Tyrika Cowlay said.

'Tyrika and her husband are among nine CHOP employees who as of today lost their jobs due to refusing to be vaccinated against the seasonal flu.

'They refused the vaccine based on religious beliefs. They are not the only ones.

"I'm just standing up for what I believe in and it's hard, it really is," terminated employee Khadijah Muhammad said.

'Officials at CHOP say some religious exemption requests were accepted, others were not.

'Rodney Bond, a CHOP employee of more than 30 years who is now terminated, says this is not fair'
