Quebec Couple Wins Right To Grow Vegetables On Front Lawn

'The city of Drummondville Quebec has ruled in favor of a couples right to grow their own vegetables on their front lawn! This case could set a precedent and generate a ripple effect that would see families all across the nation following in their footsteps and growing their own organic non GMO fresh produce.'

Editor's Note: It would be nice if this ripple effect crosses the border into America. Perhaps now we in America can secure this 'RIGHT' to grow our own food on our own lawns front or back! Why do we need the government's permission to do just about anything?

Utah wants to Register Gardens! Agenda 21?

Body Count: Agenda 21 and the Control of Food

'While Agenda 21 was introduced in 1992, the elite collectivists, lead by the Rockefellers, have been pushing population control on America and the world for generations.  In 1992, this depopulation and control policy was modernized and given a name: Agenda 21, or the Agenda for the 21st century.  The premise for depopulation and control is to preserve the environment.
One would have to be an idiot to disregard environmental concerns, however, the solutions that Agenda 21 offers fail to address the real issues.  The primary tools that Agenda 21 Sustainable Development uses are global warming lies, water shortages (like the man made drought in California, which also causes food shortages) and the Endangered Species Act (designed to take away private property, which is the base of wealth creation and freedom).(4)
Food control goes hand in hand with population control. '

Why Gardening Makes You Happy and Cures Depression

'While mental health experts warn about depression as a global epidemic, other researchers are discovering ways we trigger our natural production of happy chemicals that keep depression at bay, with surprising results. All you need to do is get your fingers dirty and harvest your own food.

In recent years I’ve come across two completely independent bits of research that identified key environmental triggers for two important chemicals that boost our immune system and keep us happy - serotonin and dopamine. What fascinated me as a permaculturist and gardener were that the environmental triggers happen in the garden when you handle the soil and harvest your crops.'

The Coming Death of Family Farms and Home Gardens

 http://www.pinnaclefarm.net/wp-content/uploads/how%20to%20grow%20vegetable%20garden.jpg

'Nothing could be so American as the family farm or home garden. Both are under attack, and we are on the verge of seeing them disappear. The family farm has been under pressure from Agribusiness and its cohorts in crime, the USDA and FDA, for years. The home garden, though, is just starting to see attacks, but from a different source. The legal system itself is likely to deal the final blow. It will, of course, be assisted by Agribusiness’s front, the USDA and FDA.'

Charges NOT Dropped For Growing Garden

Ed. Note: Years ago, Cuba faced food shortages imposed from sanctions by allowing everyone to grow organic veggies anywhere the land wasn't being used. Now they thrive on organic foods more than any other nation. But that can't happen here in the land of the free?!

'While it only appears that the City of Oak Park, MI dropped charges toward Julie Bass for planting a vegetable garden in her front yard,  she wants to clarify that charges have not been dropped. She may not be spending 93 days in the slammer for growing veggies, but she faces similar punishment - for her dogs! But the garden fiasco is not over, more on that below.'

5 Marinades for Grilled Vegetables

'Who says non-meat eaters can’t have any fun with a grill? The culture of barbecue may be obsessively carne-centric, but I’ve known many a vegetarian who can perform magic with hot coals, some sauce and a squash. I’ve thrown together plenty of vegetable marinades in my day, here are a few of my favorites. The chemistry is simple–mix the marinade up and let your vegetables marinate in a shallow dish from between 30 minutes to an hour before grilling. For larger quantities, double the ingredients.'

10 Steps for Starting an Organic Garden

Kate Gardening with Papa

'Whether you want to grow vegetables and herbs for your family meals, or just want to have more flowers and color in your yard, gardening is an easy and fun hobby.
I always garden organically. Why spray pesticides and herbicides that are toxic when it is simply not necessary?

Why 'Self-Sufficiency' Should Replace 'Sustainability' in the Environmental Movement

'The environmental movement is in love with the word 'sustainable'. Admittedly, it's a wonderful word in the purest sense, meaning; 1. capable of being sustained, 2. capable of being continued with minimal long-term effect on the environment. Who doesn't want those capabilities? Yet, 'sustainability', like everything else good and pure, has seemingly been hijacked by the ruling oligarchs as a way to impose more top-down control of society. Passionate environmentalists are beginning to realize that the only way to affect real change is by becoming sustainable individuals through self-sufficiency.

This focus on individual empowerment will naturally lead to increased liberty, as it minimizes the tactics used by mega-cartels and government to control our core needs of food, electricity, or medicine. Living in an environmentally and socially sustainable world should be an obvious goal, but it won't work if imposed at the barrel of a gun.'

Come On People! Join the Garden Revolution

Come On People! Join the Garden Revolution

“Why not feed the people everywhere and let the peace begin. Turn your swords to plowshares everywhere and feed the people.” Stephen Stills There is a garden revolution happening all over the country.

People are taking responsibility for their food and have begun small gardens on the porch, a windowsill, a small patch of yard or a large swath of land. Recently StillPoint Schoolhouse and the Foodshed Alliance, here in New Jersey, hosted their first Organic Gardening series and the class was full of eager amateur gardeners interested in learning how to grow food without the use of chemical sprays.

This course will go through the spring, summer and fall months and will include growing vegetables, fruits and herbs, preserving, canning, fermenting and freezing produce in anticipation of the winter months.'

4 Best Methods for Off-the-Grid Food Production

'For most of us producing all of our own food is just a fantasy. It evokes visions of multiple acres of fertile land, long work days, and expensive machinery. However, none of these are necessary to achieve self-sufficient food production.

There are many gardening techniques that can produce an abundance of food for you and your family without requiring a lot of space, money or equipment. What each of these methods will require is your time, but not the dawn-to-dusk work hours associated with farming.

Rather, you will need time to study and practice these methods and other food preparation skills such as learning to mill your own wheat or corn flour to make breads, tortillas, pastas from scratch, or learning to can, pickle, or preserve food in all its forms.'

How to Grow Your Own Organic Vegetable Garden

'This video shows you how, in a space of only 4 x 10 feet, you can easily have your own backyard vegetable garden. You don’t even need to dig. You just lay several layers of mulch (leaves, grass clippings) on top of the ground, separated by newspapers, and you are ready to plant.'

Seven Reasons Why You Should Grow Your Own Food

'That’s right, having your own vegetable garden is now trendy. In fact according to the 2009 Edibles Gardening Trends Research Report conducted by the Garden Writer’s Association (GWA) Foundation, over 41 million U.S. households, or 38 percent planted a vegetable garden in 2009. And, more than 19.5 million households (18 percent) grew an herb garden and 16.5 million households (15 percent) grew fruits during the same period.

The study found that there was a growth in edible gardening from both experienced gardeners and from an influx of new gardeners: 92 percent of respondents had previous experience and 7 percent (7.7 million households) were new edible gardeners.'
