'The Washington Post has two videos I think are important to see, one comes in sequence right after the other. There is an especially uncomfortable feeling I get when tragedy, ignorance and cruelty are displayed before my very eyes, and I wonder why the President of the United States, this one or any one of them, have not gone on TV and just called off the war on drugs. 

You really have to wonder about the honesty and compassion of these presidents and the army of drug warriors that follow them.

Powerful Court Quietly Takes Marijuana Case That Could Shatter Federal Prohibition Laws

'“Based on evidence currently available, the Schedule I classification is not tenable,” Grant wrote in the 2012 issue of the Open Neurology Journal . “It is not accurate that cannabis has no medical value, or that information on safety is lacking. It is true cannabis has some abuse potential, but its profile more closely resembles drugs in Schedule III.”

The DEA rejected the petition in June 2011. Administrator Michelle Leonhart declared that marijuana had no accepted medical use, because no form of it has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration. The Department of Health and Human Services had previously concurred that it had a high potential for abuse, because an estimated more than 14 million people get high illegally at least once a month.'

New Study: Marijuana Smokers Breathe Easy Says The University of Alabama

 

'The marijuana-only smokers also had 8.2 milliliters more air exhaled after a full inhalation in comparison to non-smokers while tobacco-only smokers had 19 milliliters less. Researchers were surprised to find an increased airflow with increased exposure to marijuana up to a certain level. The results are surprising, because marijuana smoke contains similar noxious ingredients and chemicals as tobacco smoke, which is known to impair lung function. 

Until now it has been unclear whether regular marijuana smoking led to the same injuries to the lungs. It was speculated by Dr. Keresz that the way pot is smoked (the common exercise of holding one's breath after inhaling cannabis smoke to increase its heady effects) might have some cause to people to doing well with the lung function test.

Pulmonologist, Dr. Donald Tashkin from the University of California also added that one reason marijuana smoke might not be as harmful as tobacco smoke, despite containing similar noxious ingredients, may be the fact that its active ingredient, THC, has anti-inflammatory effects. “We don’t know for sure,” he said, “but a very reasonable possibility is that THC may actually interfere with the development of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.”'

But at the end of the day, elites are really giving each other high-fives over the fact that they’ve more-or-less successfully banned one of the most amazing plants in the world.

Pot is illegal because pot is absolutely amazing and has the ability to dramatically improve many different aspects of our lives in a variety of different ways.

It’s great that people are fighting so hard for patients to be able to get effective medicine, but where does that put those of us who just want to have a good time with that same medicine?  And wouldn’t those who want their medicine also benefit from the efforts of those who want total freedom to enjoy that which is harmless?'

Arizona Governor Gives Up Medical Marijuana Fight

'Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer (R) said Friday she would no longer block medical marijuana dispensaries from opening in the state. The news came in a statement announcing that the state would not try again after a lawsuit she filed blocking implementation was dismissed in federal court earlier this month.

Brewer said she will direct the state health department to begin accepting and processing dispensary applications once a separate legal challenge over state regulations is settled. The pending state court lawsuit was filed on behalf of Compassion First, a group formed to advise those opening dispensaries, which has challenged restrictive health department rules restricting who can operate a dispensary.'
