Obesity epidemic caused by EMF exposures in the home according to startling new research

'Two-thirds of the U.S. population is overweight, and about one-quarter to one-third of adults are obese. Fact. Poor diet and a lack of exercise are at fault, the experts say. But what if the cause of this epidemic was something even more insidious? What if that which is considered the lifeblood of our modern day lives, electricity or more precisely dirty electricity, was really to blame?'

The Power of Virtual Reality: Your Avatar Can Influence Your Health and Weight

'The "I" one thinks of as "myself" is inextricably attached to one's bodily location. Internet-based interactive games and social media outlets have become intertwined with the physical realities of millions of people around the world. When an individual strongly identifies with the cyber representation of themselves, known as an avatar, the electronic doppelganger can influence that person's health, weight and appearance, according to a University of Missouri researcher's study.'

How Fructose Turns ON Your “Fat Switch”

From mercola.com: 'If you have ever struggled losing weight and keeping it off, you already know what a challenge that can be. Dr. Richard Johnson, chief of the Division of Renal Diseases and Hypertension at the University of Colorado has published hundreds of articles and two books on this topic: The Sugar Fix, and most recently, The Fat Switch, which presents a groundbreaking approach to preventing and reversing obesity.

According to Dr. Johnson, based on his decades of research:

“Those of us who are obese eat more because of a faulty “switch” and exercise less because of a low energy state. If you can learn how to control the specific “switch” located in the powerhouse of each of your cells – the mitochondria – you hold the key to fighting obesity.”

There are five basic truths that Dr. Johnson explains in detail in his new book that overturn current concepts:

1.Large portions of food and too little exercise are NOT solely responsible for why you are gaining weight

2.Metabolic Syndrome is A NORMAL CONDITION that animals undergo to store fat

3.Uric acid is increased by specific foods and CAUSALLY CONTRIBUTES to obesity and insulin resistance

4.Fructose-containing sugars cause obesity not by calories but by turning on the fat switch

5.Effective treatment of obesity requires turning off your fat switch and improving the function of your cells’ mitochondria.'

Overweight? Didn't You Know There's a Vaccine For That Too?

'One of the the primary aims of the biotech industry is to create a vaccine for every common ailment known to man. The pseudo-scientists at Vaccine Inc have already offered a universal flu vacine for what they feel is an uninformed and lazy public who are no longer interested in receiving the seasonal jab year after year. Why not dip into wider markets like obesity? Most of the developed world has obese populations--"can you imagine the potential for vaccines?" says the pharmaceutical executive.'

The Obesity Paradox: Overfed But Undernourished

Childhood Obesity

'There was a time when corpulence was a sign of wealth and luxury. But in modern day Western countries, quite the opposite is true. In fact, a recent study found that fully one third of homeless people living in Boston are obese. "This study suggests that obesity may be the new malnutrition of the homeless in the United States," wrote the researchers, led by Harvard Medical School student Katherine Koh, whose study is forthcoming in the Journal of Urban Health.

And it's not just the U.S. that is reporting these kinds of findings, a New Zealand study of preschoolers found that 82 percent did not get enough dietary fiber and 68 percent did not have enough long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids, which are found in fish and nuts. Despite these nutritional deficiencies, the researchers also found that fully one-third of preschoolers are overweight or obese.'

PCB Exposure Linked to Increased Abdominal Fat

'There is a correlation between high levels of the environmental toxin PCB and the distribution of body fat to the abdomen. This is shown in a new study published May 29 in the scientific journal Obesity. Abdominal fat is already known to increase the risk of diabetes and high blood pressure, among other conditions.

Fat inside the abdomen (visceral fat) is considerably more dangerous that fat near the surface of the body (subcutaneous fat). For instance, fat in the abdomen has previously been linked to the development of diabetes.'

Bottoms Up to the Hourglass Figure

'The obsession with being thin is a modern sickness.

Do you really think it’s a coincidence that we have an ever-growing number of women who have lost their sex drive, don’t menstruate, can’t get pregnant, and/or can’t nurse their babies?

What is up with that?

Could it be the fact that we are starving ourselves? Living on salads and Diet Coke. Cutting out the bread and the butter, skipping breakfast, forgoing dessert, doing whatever we can to try to get back to that size 6.

I want to bring back the hourglass.

After all, some of the sexiest women alive have been curvy.

Like Marilyn.'

'YOU CAN LOSE WEIGHT without changing what you eat or doing one minute of exercise! It’s a bold claim. And don’t get me wrong: Nutrition and exercise are important! But there’s another key to weight loss — and most people don’t even know about it. It’s sleep.

In fact, besides eating whole foods and moving your body, getting enough sleep is the most important thing you can do for your health. On the flip side, sleep deprivation makes you fat — AND leads to depression, pain, heart disease, diabetes, and much more.

That’s why in today’s blog I want to talk about the impact sleep has on your health and give you 19 tips you can use to get a good night’s rest and enjoy all the health benefits sleep has to offer. Let’s start by talking about a rather serious sleep condition called sleep apnea.'

How to Lose Weight Without Dieting

Environmental Chemicals, Soy, and Sleep Disruption Contributes to Weight Gain

 http://imbodybuilding.com/article_pic/big/2211.jpg

'Recently, scientists in Japan found that low levels of certain compounds, such as bisphenol A - BPA for short, (the building block of plastics, including that in baby bottles), had surprising effects on fibroblast cells. These cells typically help form connective tissue, muscle, ligaments, bones, etc. Exposure to BPA and other chemical compounds caused the cells to turn into adipocytes (AKA - fat cells). The chemicals also stimulated the growth of existing fat cells.

Another study performed in 2006 by scientist, Bruce Blumberg of the University of California reported similar results using different chemicals. In 2006 he fed pregnant mice tributyltin, a disinfectant and fungicide used in marine paints, plastics production, and other products, which enters the food chain in seafood and drinking water. "The offspring were born with more fat already stored, more fat cells, and became 5 to 20 percent fatter by adulthood."'

Patients sue drugs firm over the diet pills that 'left them suicidal'

Action: Obese patients who took the drug Acomplia are taking legal action because they claim it left them depressed and suicidal

'Obese patients who took a diet pill to curb their
appetites are taking legal action after they claim it led to them becoming
depressed and suicidal.

The Government demanded that the drug, Acomplia, be taken
off the market two years ago after it was linked to severe psychiatric
problems.

At least one person in Britain taking the drug committed
suicide and there have been nearly 1,300 reports of other psychiatric side
effects, figures from the medicines watchdog show.'

There is no single cause of (or treatment for) obesity

people weighing themselves on scales

'One of the most hotly debated subjects over the past few years has
been the cause of the obesity epidemic, and along with that, the best
strategy for weight loss.

Some folks (Atkins, Taubes, Eades, etc.) believe that carbohydrates
are to blame. Others (Ornish, Campbell, Esselstyn, Fuhrman, etc.)
believe that fat is the problem. More recently, researchers like Seth Roberts and Stephan Guyenet and clinicians like Dr. Sharma
have raised awareness of another hypothesis, called the food reward
theory, which holds that the consumption of highly palatable foods leads
to overeating and weight gain. And Paul Jaminet and others have argued
that micronutrient deficiencies, toxins and infections may play a significant role in the obesity epidemic.

Here’s what I think: the most accurate answer to “why do people get
fat?” and “what’s the most effective weight loss strategy?” is:
“it depends.” '

Magnesium, Leptin and Obesity

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rjogqEBgB00/TjEEPahiquI/AAAAAAAAAlk/C7GZ9s7LLiM/s320/j0430792.jpg

'One would think that eating too much would result in an abundance of nutritional support for cells. But being overweight and undernourished at the same time is a reality that is just beginning to be understood. It is quite strange to say to people that the more they eat, the more malnourished they are destined to be.

Overweight people more often than not suffer from gross malnutrition because the nutritional values of the basic foods available to us have been steadily dropping for the last 50 years even as toxic exposures increase.

Obese people tend to eat too many processed white foods with the fiber removed along with many of the vitamins and minerals. Not enough fiber is another common problem with the obese.

Excessive calorie intake is the fast track to leptin resistance. Since it’s hard to eat excess of the so-called “clean” foods, excess calories usually come from junk foods as do magnesium deficiencies.'
