9 Body Hacks to Naturally Increase Testosterone

Obesity, like diabetes, also appears to have a negative effect on testosterone levels, according to a new study. "The fact that almost one-third of the U.S. is obese, these observations have profound . . . public health implications," says Sandeep Dhindsa.

By Dr. Mercola
'Testosterone, a hormone produced primarily by the testicles, is often associated with the epitome of "manhood" (although women have testosterone, too).
Indeed, it does play a large role in male sexuality and reproduction, impacting such factors as sexual and reproductive function, muscle mass, and hair growth, but also has some less "flashy," albeit equally important, roles like maintaining bone density, levels of red blood cells and a sense of well-being.
Beginning around age 30, a man's testosterone levels begin to decline, and continue to do so as he ages.
A wide range of chemical exposures included prescribed drugs like statins, adversely impact testosterone production in men. At the same time, estrogen levels typically increase due to widespread exposures to estrogen-mimicking compounds in food, water and environmental pollutants.'

Dr. Mercola Interviews Dr. Wright about Hormone Replacement

by Dr. Mercola

Can You Believe Drug Companies Used to Pay Me to Promote HRT?

'Yes, at one time I was part of the dark side. Many of you may not know this about me, but after finishing my medical residency training in the mid-80s, I was actually a paid speaker for the drug companies. I got paid to fly around the country to lecture physicians about estrogen replacement therapy. At the time, I was convinced it was an ideal strategy for menopausal women because I was manipulated and deceived by the overwhelming "evidence" that was published in the respected peer-reviewed medical journals.

Only decades later would I finally understand the massive corruption and collusion between the drug companies, medical journals and federal regulatory agencies that provided the illusion of scientific legitimacy when the real primary purpose was to increase their sales.'

Spicing Up Your Hormones Without Hormone Replacement

Spicing Up Your Hormones Without Replacing Them

'One of the insurmountable problems with hormone replacement therapy is that when you replace a hormone you risk feeding the underlying glandular deficiency.

In the exuberance associated with the idea of overcoming age-associated declines in sexual, cognitive, skeletal, cardiovascular, etc. function, with both synthetic and bioidentical hormones, the hormone replacement advocates have often neglected to educate their patients to several unintended, adverse effects of hormone replacement therapy (HRT): 1) the endocrine system has a negative feedback loop which guarantees that with time the body's ability to produce adequate quantities of the very hormones being targeted for replacement will decline, resulting in the development of biological dependency on an external source of hormones -- not exactly a picture of empowerment.'

Wake-Up Ladies: You’re Being Slowly Poisoned… by Birth Control Pills!

So What Do You Do?

'Since the 1960’s, when birth control pills were first introduced, millions of women worldwide have taken them, believing they were safe and effective for contraception.

Unfortunately, that’s only a half-truth.  Birth control pills are indeed very effective at contraception. But the downside is they’re extremely hazardous.  Since the introduction of the Pill, there’s been an explosion of women’s diseases and maladies in a scope never experienced before in the history of medicine:

  •  'These are just the major problems known to be caused by the Pill (and standard Hormone Replacement Therapy as well).  Plus, we fully expect ovarian cancer and Alzheimer’s Dementia to join this list in the next few years once more studies are completed.

But ask any doctor, and despite evidence to the contrary, they’ll describe the wonderful “benefits” of using the Pill besides contraception: Reduction in ovarian cancer, uterine cancer, endometriosis and stabilization of periods.  Some brands are marketed to improve acne in younger women.'

    How wrong they are!

The Dangers Every Woman Needs to Know About the Birth Control Pill

'Did you know that an estimated 150 million women worldwide take birth control pills?

Such widespread use of birth control pills worries me because many women are not aware of the serious health implications of these drugs. I also believe that birth control pills are often prescribed to address symptoms (like cramping, spotting, irregular periods and acne) instead of the underlying causes of the symptoms.

Many women do not consider the very real (and sometimes very dangerous) side effects of these synthetic hormones, but you owe it to your body, and to your future children, to find out more.'

Human Hormones Are Being Eclipsed By Synthetic Chemicals

'A new study published in the Journal of Applied Toxicology has raised some disturbing possibilities regarding the dangers of common hormone-mimicking preservatives found in thousands of consumer products on the market today.

Titled “Parabens detection in different zones of the human breast: consideration of source and implications of findings,” researchers discussed the role that parabens — a class of estrogen-mimicking chemicals widely used in drugs, foods and cosmetics — may have in breast cancer and childhood disease.'

Pomegranates: The New Natural Hormone Replacement Therapy?

pomegranates-new-natural-hrt

'Modern women at midlife have many options when it comes to dealing with those nasty menopausal symptoms like mood swings, depression, bone loss, and fluctuating estrogen levels.  But their most surprising source of natural relief may come from an ancient food:  the juicy pomegranate.

Pomegranates have been cultivated for over 4,000 years.  Our word pomegranate dates back to around 750 B.C. and comes from the Latin "Punicum malum" meaning "Phoenician apple."  Today the fruit is often called a "Chinese apple." '

The Truth About Cortisol

'Cortisol, also referred to as an adrenal cortisol hormone, is perhaps the most important hormone in our body as it affects nearly all the vital organs. Cortisol falls under a class of hormones known as glucocorticoids and is secreted by the adrenal gland.'

The Natural Solution For Menopause and PMS

 http://thesleepaids.com/library/WildYamGel371008.JPG

'In North America, there are an estimated 40-60 million menopausal women and some 30-40 million baby boomer women on the brink of menopause.

'Many people associate menopause with mood swings, vaginal dryness, irritability, hot flashes, cramps, insomnia and other dreary symptoms. With even more baby boomer women entering the menopausal years during the next decade, new attitudes about menopause are transforming the way people view this pivotal time in a woman’s life.

It seems that many in the allopathic medical profession have treated menopause as a disease and the risks have been known, but downplayed by the Medical profession and in fact they have encouraged women to take the HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) for being attractive, halting the aging process and it would increase bone density.'

Male Menopause and Low Testosterone

 http://www.ibuysteroids.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/All-about-Testosterone-Propionate.JPG

 By Dr. Jeffery Dash

'Male menopause and low testosterone is in the news again, thanks to Robert Brannigan MD and the public relations department of Northwestern University. Their news release was reprinted by all the major news services.

Dr Brannigan tells us testosterone levels decline with age, and we now have 5 million men suffering from low testosterone levels resulting in "fatigue, mood swings, decreased desire for sex, hair loss, lack of concentration and weight gain." Low testosterone is commonly associated with diabetes and cardiovascular disease. In my experience, I have found both conditions improve considerably with testosterone treatment.'

Bioidentical Estriol Still Under Threat

'Nurses in Oregon may soon lose their ability to prescribe estriol, the safe and effective bioidentical estrogen hormone. Meanwhile, an FDA-approved menopause drug is killing women at twice the usual mortality rate.
A new study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) shows that women who take the synthetic estrogen replacement product Prempro®—a combination of a potent estrogen derived from pregnant mares’ urine and a synthetic progestin—are twice as likely to die from breast cancer. (This confirms the research we reported to you in 2008.) This month’s Archives of Internal Medicine shows that women taking Prempro® or Premarin® are also 21% more likely to develop kidney stones over five years. A study published last year in The Lancet showed that Prempro® raises the number of lung cancer deaths. And the government-sponsored Women’s Health Initiative study was halted in July 2002 because long-term Prempro use was found to raise the risk of breast cancer, heart attack, and stroke.'

Women Are Dying From Hormone Therapy; Why Is Pharma Still Allowed to Push It?

Big Pharma is still pushing its hormone therapy for women, despite the fact that it increases women's risk of cancer and other health problems.

'Want to increase your chances of getting, and possibly dying from, node-positive breast cancer? Take hormone therapy.

Pharma's lucrative estrogen plus progestin combo is already known to increase the chance of getting breast cancer by 26 percent. But an article in this week's Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) shows hormone therapy also increases the chance of dying from breast cancer, as followups are conducted on women who took it.

In fact hormone therapy, already indicted for causing delays in breast cancer diagnosis by increasing breast density (and increasing lung cancer deaths) is now so dangerous that Peter B. Bach of the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, who wrote an accompanying JAMA editorial, told the New York Times that even the recommendation to take "the lowest possible doses for the shortest possible time" is now questionable. Perhaps like prescribing the fewest and lowest tar cigarettes as possible.'
