'Blood Sugar ControlSeveral studies have found that Cinnamon has properties that help those with insulin resistance. It is therefore very popular with Type 2 diabetics who take it to control their blood sugar variations.

Ceylon Cinnamon is particularly popular because it has low levels of Coumarin. compared to Cassia Cinnamon found in your grocery store. In case you did not know Coumarin in high doses can cause liver damage. Another study found that Ceylon Cinnamon has no effect on blood sugar control and only Cassia Cinnamon has this effect.

However in yet another study Ceylon Cinnamon was found to have an effect on blood sugar control in a rat model. So the evidence is confusing. If you are taking Ceylon Cinnamon for diabetes, take it in moderation as part of a healthy program of diet, proper nutrition and moderate exercise.'

5 Clues You Are Addicted To Sugar

'Most of us have felt the urge, the unstoppable craving driving us to seek out something sweet and devour it in a flash. That uncontrollable yen for cookies, cake or ice cream or that whole basket of bread calling to us to finish it off. Why do you overeat?

Why does that cookie have such power over you, even though you know it will make you fat and sick? Is it an indication of your moral weakness, lack of will power, or is it a powerful hardwired brain response over which you have little control?

Debate has raged recently about whether junk food, the hyper-processed, hyper-palatable food that has become our SAD (standard American diet) is addictive in the same way that heroin or cocaine is addictive. A new study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition suggests that, in fact, higher sugar, higher glycemic foods can be addictive.'

An MD's Perspective On How To Avoid, Treat And Reverse Diabetes

An MD's Perspective On How To Avoid, Treat And Reverse Diabetes

'In essence, diabetes is a defect in converting blood sugar into energy. The defect in type 1 diabetes is due to a failure of insulin production by the pancreas, the endocrine gland that is also the source of digestive enzymes.

In Type 2 diabetes, the defect is due to an abnormal response to insulin, in which the cells of the body are unable to take up the glucose they need for basic metabolic functions. This causes high levels of blood sugar that cannot be used effectively. In both types, impaired glucose uptake occurs, although the mechanisms are different.'

The Sugar and Alzheimer's Connection

'Egged on by massive food-industry marketing budgets, Americans eat a lot of sugary foods. We know the habit is quite probably wrecking our bodies, triggering high rates of overweight and diabetes. Is it also wrecking our brains?
That's the disturbing conclusion emerging in a body of research linking Alzheimer's disease to insulin resistance—which is in turn linked to excess sweetener consumption. A blockbuster story in the Sept. 3 issue of the UK magazine The New Scientist teases out the connections.'

Green Tea With Starchy Food Lowers Blood Sugar Spikes By 50 Percent

'Green tea inhibits the action of certain starch-digesting enzymes and offer a plant-based alternative for glycemic control. Conclusive research may lead to new diet strategies according to Penn State food scientists.

Green tea is made solely from the leaves of Camellia sinensis that have undergone minimal oxidation during processing. It has become the raw material for extracts which are used in various beverages, health foods, dietary supplements, and cosmetic items. Users should be aware the some sources of green tea may contain excess levels of fluoride.'

How You Can Have High Blood Sugar Without Carbs

'High blood sugar is bad. Carbohydrates raise blood sugar. Therefore carbohydrates are bad. The theory is simple, and yet incredibly flawed.

The truth is, you can have chronically high blood sugar even while religiously avoiding every starch and sugar in sight. Low-carb forums are littered with posts asking a very relevant question:

Why is my blood sugar so high when I'm not eating any carbs?

The answer is simple, yet often overlooked.'

Contrary to Conventional Medicine, High-Fat Diets Lower Blood Sugar, Cholesterol, Reset Metabolism and Prevent Obesity

'Most physicians seem to parrot the same old advice day in and day out--exercise, don't smoke and maintain a low fat diet. Turns out that if you're interested in lowering blood sugar, resetting your metabolism and preventing weight gain, a low-fat diet is not in your best interest.

By high-fat we don't mean processed or fried fatty foods with little nutrition. We mean high nutrient, energy efficient foods such as nuts, avocados, organic eggs, olive oil, non-pasteurized hard cheese and organic fatty fish.'

How to prevent diabetes and heart disease for $16

relion

'In this article I’m going to introduce a simple technique that, when used properly, is one of the most effective ways to maintain healthy blood sugar and prevent cardiovascular and metabolic disease – without unnecessary drugs.

I love this technique because it’s:

* Cheap. You can buy the equipment you need for $16 online. * Convenient. You can perform the tests in the comfort of your home, in your car, or wherever else you might be.

* Personalized. Instead of following some formula for how much carbohydrate you can safely eat, this method will tell you exactly what your carbohydrate tolerance is, and which carbs are “safe” and “unsafe” for you.

* Safe. Unlike the oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT), which can produce dangerous and horribly uncomfortable spikes in blood sugar, this strategy simply involves testing your blood sugar after your normal meals.'

Beat Sugar Addiction NOW!

 http://www.usafutures.com/sugar_trading_broker.jpg

 By Dr Jacob Teitelbaum MD

Are you a sugar addict?

'If the answer is yes, you are not alone.
The average American has 140 to 150 pounds of sugar per person of sugar added to their diets each year. Another 18 percent of our calories come from white flour (which acts a lot like sugar in our bodies). Eating almost twice our weight in sugar and white flour each year, it's not surprising that we have become a nation of sugar addicts. Like many other addictive substances, sugar may leave you feeling a bit better for a few hours, but then wreaks havoc on your body.

In our new Beat Sugar Addiction NOW! (BSAN) book, we describe the four main types of sugar addicts. In each type, there are different forces driving the addiction, and in all four types the excess sugar leaves people feeling much worse overall. By treating the underlying causes that are active in your type of addiction, you will find that not only do your sugar cravings go away, but you also feel dramatically better overall.'

Turn Your “Digestion Gene” Back On

By Dr. Al Sears

'Did you know that you could be eating all the right nutrients but not absorbing them?

In order to build muscle, strengthen your immune system, and get the energy you need throughout the day, the nutrients you eat have to get absorbed in your digestive tract. And that requires digestive enzymes.

There’s the rub. Because there’s something in our modern diet that may be stopping you from producing the digestive enzymes you need.

Let me explain…'

New Research Reveals Conventional Wisdom about Balancing Blood Sugar is Wrong

'If you’re concerned about your blood sugar, you need to know that new research now proves conventional blood sugar solutions could be putting your health at great risk.'

'Conventional wisdom says if you’re not having symptoms, your blood sugar problems are not such a big deal.

In reality, foggy thinking, memory lapses, low energy levels, kidney problems and high blood pressure and cholesterol levels are just a few of the symptoms you might not be attributing to unbalanced blood sugar… but should be.'
