Suspiciously Sweet: How artificial sweeteners can hinder weight loss

'You may have read my post last week about sugar, its addictive qualities, and its effects on metabolism, entitled, “Spike, Crash and Burn: How Even a Little Sugar Could Be Sabotaging Your Weight Loss and Workouts”.  Blood sugar and its effect on metabolism is an extremely important piece of the weight loss and fitness puzzle.

As I explained, the spikes and crashes that sugar creates in our bodies can cause our metabolism to go into survival mode.  These energy ups and downs send signals to our body that we don’t have a consistent source of energy to keep us moving.

The body interprets this is a need to conserve energy, so it begins storing fat instead of burning it.  In this survival mode, we may find ourselves working out regularly and not losing weight at all.

You may be thinking, “No problem, I’ll just replace sugar with artificial sweeteners!”  But, do these products have consequences for our health?  What about our weight loss goals?'

Slay the Sugar Monster in Four Doable Steps

'I’m happy to say that my sugar addiction days are long behind me and while I do still look longingly at a box of Dunkin Donuts, I pass them by the vast majority of the time when they are available at a party or meeting. While I do give in and eat one bite sized munchkin from time to time, I have found the hard way (refined sugar gives me such a nasty headache!) that choosing to eat none at all is far easier than indulging even just a bite or two!

So, how did I do it? How did I slay the sugar monster and keep it at bay for so many years?

Here’s the protocol. I’m sure there are other approaches that would work just fine too. Here’s what worked for me and has enabled me to stay sugar addiction-free for many years.'

How to Brew Your Own Kombucha

So, What is Kombucha?

'Kombucha is a living health drink made by fermenting tea and sugar with the kombucha culture (also known as SCOBY or Mother). The result can sometimes taste a little vinegary, but most say it tastes something like something between sparkling apple cider and champagne, depending on what kind of tea you use.

Its origins are not 100% know, however it is thought to have originated in China, where it has been consumed for nearly 2,000 years. During the Tsin Dynasty in 221 BC, kombucha was known as “The Tea of Immortality.” This is also where the first record of kombucha consumption comes from.

It has also been used in Russia, Japan and Eastern Europe for many centuries. From Russia it spread to Prussia, Poland, Germany and Denmark but has been said to have died out, temporarily, during World War Two. After the war Dr Rudolph Skelnar created renewed interest in kombucha in Germany when he used it in his practice to treat cancer patients, metabolic disorders, high blood pressure and diabetes.'

Having Seen the Evidence, I Don't Touch Fizzy Drinks Any More. Frankly They're Evil, Says Leading Biologist

'The research, by Bangor University and published in the European Journal Of Nutrition, reported that soft drinks actually alter metabolism, so that our muscles use sugar for energy instead of burning fat.
It seems that exposure to liquid sugar causes genes in our muscles to change their behaviour, perhaps permanently. Not only do we pile on weight, but our metabolism becomes less efficient and less able to cope with rises in blood sugar, say the researchers. This, in turn, increases the risk of type 2 diabetes.
‘Having seen all the medical evidence, I don’t touch soft drinks now,’ says Dr Hans-Peter Kubis, a biological scientist and expert in exercise nutrition who led the research. 'I think drinks with added sugar are, frankly, evil.’

IMPROVE METABOLISM WITH DIGESTIVE ENZYMES

Improve Metabolism With Digestive Enzymes
What are enzymes?
'Every simple or complex process in our body is possible because of a series of chemical reactions. These reactions are governed by enzymes which either hasten the speed of the reaction by exponential rates or make otherwise impossible reactions take place in its presence. Essentially all enzymes are made up of proteins. What is amazing about these enzymes is that even though they participate in a reaction, they remain unaltered in terms of their chemical composition while they convert biological reactants (substrates) into the required products. Because of this property, they can be reused multiple times, depending on the requirement of the product.'

Sugar is Toxic

Sugar Can Lead to Cancer and Heart Disease

Health Videos - Sugar Can Lead to Cancer and Heart Disease

How to prevent diabetes and heart disease for $16

relion

'In this article I’m going to introduce a simple technique that, when used properly, is one of the most effective ways to maintain healthy blood sugar and prevent cardiovascular and metabolic disease – without unnecessary drugs.

I love this technique because it’s:

* Cheap. You can buy the equipment you need for $16 online. * Convenient. You can perform the tests in the comfort of your home, in your car, or wherever else you might be.

* Personalized. Instead of following some formula for how much carbohydrate you can safely eat, this method will tell you exactly what your carbohydrate tolerance is, and which carbs are “safe” and “unsafe” for you.

* Safe. Unlike the oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT), which can produce dangerous and horribly uncomfortable spikes in blood sugar, this strategy simply involves testing your blood sugar after your normal meals.'

Beat Sugar Addiction NOW!

 http://www.usafutures.com/sugar_trading_broker.jpg

 By Dr Jacob Teitelbaum MD

Are you a sugar addict?

'If the answer is yes, you are not alone.
The average American has 140 to 150 pounds of sugar per person of sugar added to their diets each year. Another 18 percent of our calories come from white flour (which acts a lot like sugar in our bodies). Eating almost twice our weight in sugar and white flour each year, it's not surprising that we have become a nation of sugar addicts. Like many other addictive substances, sugar may leave you feeling a bit better for a few hours, but then wreaks havoc on your body.

In our new Beat Sugar Addiction NOW! (BSAN) book, we describe the four main types of sugar addicts. In each type, there are different forces driving the addiction, and in all four types the excess sugar leaves people feeling much worse overall. By treating the underlying causes that are active in your type of addiction, you will find that not only do your sugar cravings go away, but you also feel dramatically better overall.'

New Research Reveals Conventional Wisdom about Balancing Blood Sugar is Wrong

'If you’re concerned about your blood sugar, you need to know that new research now proves conventional blood sugar solutions could be putting your health at great risk.'

'Conventional wisdom says if you’re not having symptoms, your blood sugar problems are not such a big deal.

In reality, foggy thinking, memory lapses, low energy levels, kidney problems and high blood pressure and cholesterol levels are just a few of the symptoms you might not be attributing to unbalanced blood sugar… but should be.'
