'Want to know where to find butter from grass-fed cows? I’ve said before that butter is a health food, but butter from grass-fed cows is even better — a nutritional powerhouse of vitamins A, D, & K-2, heart-disease preventing CLA (conjugated linoleic acid), and so much more.

Yet finding butter from grass-fed cows can be hard for those newly committed to doing so. Is buying certified organic butter enough? Do you absolutely need to find a local pasture-based dairy? What if there are no pasture-based dairies near you?

Consider this your guide for where to find butter from grass-fed cows.'

5 Reasons Why Butter is a Superfood

5 reasons why butter is a superfood

'One stick of butter in 24 hours

I ate a quarter pound of butter today. Yep, that is one whole stick. If you want to know how that is possible, let me explain:

4 tbs. mixed into a batch of Paleo Cornbread Muffins

1 tbs. slathered on top of said muffins

2 tbs. stirred into warm butternut squash pureé

1 tbs. tossed with steamed carrots, salt, and chopped fresh thyme

You may be holding back a gag reflex after reading that. Perhaps you are still staring at your computer screen mute shock. In either case, you are probably wondering WHY I committed this senseless act of nutritional suicide.

I eat butter because I am on a mission to heal my body. And, believe it or not, butter is a healing superfood. Here’s why:'

10 Reasons Why I Love Butter

1. Butter is real.

I love food that doesn't need an ingredient list. And butter is as simple as it comes: cream. That's it. No hydrogenation necessary, no flavor additives, no preservatives. Just my style.

2. It's delicious.

When it comes down to it, healthy food should taste amazing. And butter definitely fits that bill. Who doesn't like butter? Granted, I'm sure there are some folks out there who don't... but I've yet to meet one personally. Not only does real butter taste a million times better than any "buttery" spread out there, it also makes other food taste great too!

The 20 Health Benefits of Real Butter

'Origins of butter go back thousands of years to when our ancestors first started domesticating animals. In fact, the first written reference to butter was found on a 4500- year old limestone tablet illustrating how butter was made.

In India, ghee (clarified butter) has been used as a staple food, and as a symbol of purity, worthy of offering to the gods in religious ceremonies for more than 3000 years.

The Death of Dietitians...The Resurrection of a French Chef!

http://topscallops.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/french_cuisine.jpg

"First need in the reform of hospital management? That's easy! The death of all dietitians, and the resurrection of a French chef." ~ Martin H Fischer quotes Modern science is beginning to vindicate the ancient wisdom of our palates ... Butter, for instance, and without which -- some argue -- French cuisine would not be possible, actually contains a saturated fat (the dietetic equivalent of a four letter word!), with a trans- fatty acid configuration, that -- get this! -- lowers blood cholesterol levels, triglycerides and exhibits heart-protective properties.

Known as vaccenic acid, this naturally occuring trans-fatty acid is found in the fat of ruminants, e.g. goats, cows, deer, and is also found in human milk. It is converted into rumenic acid, a type of conjugated linoleic acid, which is known to have a broad range of potential health benefits."

By Dr. Mercola

'Are you still shunning butter from your diet? You can stop today because butter can be a very healthy part of your diet.'

'The unfortunate result of the low-fat diet craze has been the shunning of healthful fats such as butter, and public health has declined as a result of this folly.
Good-old-fashioned butter, when made from grass-fed cows, is a rich in a substance called conjugated linoleic acid (CLA). CLA is not only known to help fight cancer and diabetes, it may even help you to lose weight, which cannot be said for its trans-fat substitutes.

Much of the reason why butter was, and continues to be, vilified is because it contains saturated fat. If you're still in the mindset that saturated fat is harmful for your health, then please read this past article to learn why saturated fat is actually good for you.

In fact, by now many have realized that it's the trans fat found in margarine, vegetable shortening, and partially hydrogenated vegetable oils that is the true villain, causing far more significant health problems than saturated fat ever could.'

Butter Versus Margarine Showdown

'It’s no secret that I’m a fan of butter. I love the way it tastes. I love the way it makes other foods taste. I love the way it melts, the rich creamy texture it imparts to delectable recipes, and I love that it is REAL. If I wanted to, I could put a cow out to lush, green pastures every day, milk it, and use my haul to create fresh butter in my own kitchen. I can’t create margarine in my kitchen.

Butter from grass-fed cows is arguably one of the best kinds of fats we can eat, but when you tell most people this they roll their eyes. Where’s the science to back that claim up? They ask. Everyone knows butter is bad, bad, bad for you. Don’t they?

Ah. Well now you can point them to a recent study which broke down the results of the 20 year Framingham Heart study, specifically comparing butter consumption to margarine consumption. Guess which tasty, spreadable fat wins?'
