Tomato Mango Salsa

'Fresh tomato mango salsa has quickly become one of my family’s favorite toppings. We’ve spooned it over seasoned, grilled hamburger patties, savory grilled fish filets, and even used it to top salads. In this tomato mango salsa, summer tomatoes meet plump mangoes with a kiss of cilantro, aromatic green onions, and zesty lime. Finally, yogurt and honey add a bit of sweet and sour to round out the salsa.

Tomato mango salsa is another unique and lovely way to use your bountiful harvest of garden fresh tomatoes. Hope you enjoy!

For the best possible salsa, tomatoes should be hand gathered from the garden and not refrigerated.'

'If I told you there was one diet that could cure arthritis, fatigue, irritable bowel, reflux, chronic allergies, eczema, psoriasis, autoimmune disease, diabetes, heart disease, migraines, depression, attention deficit disorder, and occasionally even autism and that it could help you lose weight quickly and easily without cravings, suffering, or deprivation, you might wonder if Dr. Hyman had gone a bit crazy.

But it's true. And the story goes like this.
Food is medicine.

Vegetable Tort

Post image for Vegetable Torte

'If you subscribe to the newsletter you already have this recipe, but you got to check out these pictures. One picture doesn’t do it justice.

This vegetarian torte would make a super brunch menu item or is great for a light supper, or perhaps my favorite, inspiring envy in the corporate lunch room.

I made this from butternut squash from the 2012 harvest, canned Swiss chard, garlic conserva as well as some fresh ingredients. It’s pretty to look at and delicious!

You can make this in a square casserole dish but a 9” spring form pan makes for a more dramatic presentation and you don’t have to sacrifice the first piece to the knife.'

Roasted Cauliflower and Potato Soup - A Digestive Tonic

 .

'Making top notch soup doesn't require formal training or a pint of heavy cream.

To make soup that your family and friends will rave about, all you need are a handful of wholesome ingredients: two heads of cauliflower, a couple of Yukon gold potatoes, two shallots or a yellow onion, and a fresh bunch of any favorite herb.

As with most soups that include a healthy portion of cooked Yukon gold potatoes, I find that this soup is consistently helpful to those with an inflamed stomach or colon.

Here's an up-close look at our ingredients:'

Component Found In Common Celery Beats Breast Cancer

  http://anuzhealthykitchen.blogspot.com

'I just came across an interesting story posted on the University of Missouri 'News Bureau' website. It seems that M.U. researcher, Professor of Tumor Angiogenesis and Biomedical Sciences, Salman Hyder, has proven in a recent study, that a component found in common celery makes an effective treatment for breast cancer.

In Hyder's work, test mice injected with an aggressive breast cancer cell (BT-474) experienced rapid tumor growth. The Professor then introduced a natural chemical, called apigenin, found in celery, parsley, and other vegetables, to some of the mice. Other mice received no apigenin, but rather, a man-made progestin (medroxyprogesterone acetate) normally administered to post-menopausal women.'

6 Bodily Tissues That Can Be Regenerated Through Nutrition

6 Bodily Tissues That Can Be Regenerated Through Nutrition

'It may come as a surprise to some, especially those with conventional medical training, but the default state of the body is one of ceaseless regeneration. Without the flame-like process of continual cell turnover within the body – life and death ceaselessly intertwined – the miracle of the human body would not exist.

In times of illness, however, regenerative processes are overcome by degenerative ones. This is where medicine may perform its most noble feat, nudging the body back into balance with foods, herbs, nutrients, healing energies, i.e. healing intention. Today, however, drug-based medicine invariably uses chemicals that have not one iota of regenerative potential; to the contrary, they almost always interfere with bodily self-renewal in order to suppress the symptoms against which they are applied.'

Cancer-killing dandelion tea gets $157K research grant

'Siyaram Pandey, a biochemist at the University of Windsor, has been studying the anti-cancer potential of dandelion root extract for almost two years.

His team’s first phase of research showed that dandelion root extract forced a very aggressive and drug-resistant type of blood cancer cell, known as chronic monocytic myeloid leukemia, to essentially commit suicide.

Researchers then discovered that repeated treatment with low dose dandelion root extract was effective in killing most of the cancerous cells.'

Watermelon Lowers Blood Pressure

eating watermelon

'Just looking at a juicy watermelon seems to relax us perhaps because the image conjures memories of lazy summer days and informal meals. But a new study reveals that it’s not just in our heads. Eating watermelon lowers blood pressure – it’s true.

Food scientists at The Florida State University conducted a pilot study of four men and five postmenopausal women, all aged 51 to 57 and prehypertensive. All nine participants showed improved arterial function and lower aortic blood pressure, suggesting that watermelon can be an effective natural weapon against prehypertension, a precursor to cardiovascular disease.'

The Death of Dietitians...The Resurrection of a French Chef!

http://topscallops.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/french_cuisine.jpg

"First need in the reform of hospital management? That's easy! The death of all dietitians, and the resurrection of a French chef." ~ Martin H Fischer quotes Modern science is beginning to vindicate the ancient wisdom of our palates ... Butter, for instance, and without which -- some argue -- French cuisine would not be possible, actually contains a saturated fat (the dietetic equivalent of a four letter word!), with a trans- fatty acid configuration, that -- get this! -- lowers blood cholesterol levels, triglycerides and exhibits heart-protective properties.

Known as vaccenic acid, this naturally occuring trans-fatty acid is found in the fat of ruminants, e.g. goats, cows, deer, and is also found in human milk. It is converted into rumenic acid, a type of conjugated linoleic acid, which is known to have a broad range of potential health benefits."

The Milk Cure for Healing Lyme Disease

 http://www.oasisnewsfeatures.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/raw-milk.jpg

'This amazing story was sent to me by Melanie, a Mom who has been drinking nothing but raw, pastured milk for over 100 days to heal her Lyme Disease. Nothing else has worked for her over the past 4 years.

Her healing journey is based on the use of raw, pastured milk for reversal of serious illness as practiced in the early 1900′s by the Mayo Foundation, a forerunner of the famed Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota.

If this story is of interest to you, read more about The Milk Cure 2012.'

Here is Melanie’s story ….

From Normal Mom to Near Invalid

'Four years ago I was an active wife and mother: cooking, cleaning, running errands, volunteering at my daughter’s school – the usual “stay at home” mother activities. Without warning, I suddenly became very ill after being exposed to loud noise for several hours.
I developed excruciating pain in both ears and was subsequently diagnosed with “hyperacusis”, painful sensitivity to sound. I could not bear any noise louder than normal conversation without intense pain and became confined to my home. At about the same time, I began suffering from severe insomnia and night sweats, and I began to rapidly lose weight.'

Walnuts Are Drugs, Says FDA

'Seen any walnuts in your medicine cabinet lately? According to the Food and Drug Administration, that is precisely where you should find them. Because Diamond Foods made truthful claims about the health benefits of consuming walnuts that the FDA didn’t approve, it sent the company a letter declaring, “Your walnut products are drugs” — and “new drugs” at that — and, therefore, “they may not legally be marketed … in the United States without an approved new drug application.” The agency even threatened Diamond with “seizure” if it failed to comply.'

How to Drink Your Way Out of Fatigue

 by Dr. Mercola

'Juicing is a powerful tool that can accelerate your progress towards optimal health, and Cherie Calbom, aka "The Juice Lady," is an expert on this subject. Virtually every health authority, even conventional doctors, recommend 6-8 servings of vegetables and fruits per day but very few of us actually get that.

I've found juicing to be a simple and easy way to virtually guarantee that you'll reach your daily target for vegetables. Juicing also allows you to add a wider variety of vegetables to your diet that you might not normally enjoy eating whole, and makes it easier for your body to absorb all those wonderful nutrients.

Cherie Calbom earned her nickname "The Juice Lady" back in 1991, when she worked for the Juiceman company. But her passion about juicing began way before that, as she healed herself from a multitude of disabling health problems through juicing in her late 20's.'

Brazil Nuts are Best Source of Selenium

 http://www.iibc.com/wp-content/uploads//2010/04/041610_1840_BrazilNuts1.jpg

'Rich, creamy Brazil nuts are the best source of selenium.  A recent study at the University of Otago in New Zealand found that eating just two Brazil nuts a day is as effective in increasing selenium and boosting glutathione as taking a selenium supplement. And eating Brazil nuts brings many other benefits not found in selenium supplements.'

The Cancer Treatment So Successful - Traditional Doctors SHUT it Down

by Dr. Mercola

'Alternative cancer treatments are a kind of "forbidden area" in medicine, but Dr. Gonzalez chose to go that route anyway, and has some remarkable success stories to show for his pioneering work.
He didn't set out to treat cancer at first however, let alone treat patients. His originalal plan was to be a basic science researcher at Sloan-Kettering, a teaching hospital for Cornell Medical College. He had a chance meeting with William Kelley, a controversial dentist who was one of the founders of nutritional typing. Dr. Kelley had been practicing alternative- and nutritional approaches for over two decades at the time, led him to begin a student project investigation of Kelley's work, in the summer of 1981.
"I started going through his records and even though I was just a second year medical student, I could see right away there were cases that were extraordinary," he says. "Patients with appropriately diagnosed pancreatic cancer, metastatic breast cancer in the bone, metastatic colorectal cancer… who were alive 5, 10, 15 years later under Kelley's care with a nutritional approach."
This preliminary review led to a formal research study, which Dr. Gonzalez completed while doing his fellowship in cancer, immunology and bone marrow transplantation.'

34 New Beneficial Compounds Discovered in Maple Syrup

 http://www.frugalyankee.com/files/maple_syrup07171055.jpg

'University of Rhode Island researcher Navindra Seeram has discovered 34 new beneficial compounds in pure maple syrup and confirmed that 20 compounds discovered last year in preliminary research play a key role in human health. On March 30 at the 241st American Chemical Society's National Meeting in Anaheim, Calif. the URI assistant pharmacy professor is telling scientists from around the world that his URI team has now isolated and identified 54 beneficial compounds in pure maple syrup from Quebec, five of which have never been seen in nature.

"I continue to say that nature is the best chemist, and that maple syrup is becoming a champion food when it comes to the number and variety of beneficial compounds found in it," Seeram said. "It's important to note that in our laboratory research we found that several of these compounds possess anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, which have been shown to fight cancer, diabetes and bacterial illnesses." Why These Vegetables Are the Best for Fighting Cancer

 http://www.bewellbuzz.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/02/crvegetables1.bmp

'Here is a catalogue of healing foods that ranks among the world's best for nutrition: cruciferous vegetables. A diet that puts nutrition first puts these vegetables right up there at the top of the priority list.
Cruciferous vegetables, led by the heavy hitter broccoli, are also continually being studied for their disease-prevention abilities. Here comes another one and it's a whopper: a chemical reason has been discovered for how they apparently fight cancer.

For the first time, researchers have identified certain substances within cruciferous veggies that appear to target and block a defective gene linked with cancer. Their report, which could lead to new strategies for preventing and treating cancer, appears in the "Journal of Medicinal Chemistry." '

Fight cancer and heart disease with one crunchy snack

http://www.drgranny.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/Sunflower-Seeds.jpg

By Dr.Allan Spreen

'I keep sunflower seeds in my kitchen cabinets, at my desk, and in the car. These crunchy seeds contain lots of natural vitamin E. In fact, just a quarter cup of sunflower seeds contains almost 100 percent of your Recommended Daily Allowance of this fat-soluble vitamin.

As you'll recall, vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that patrols your body for harmful free radicals that lead to disease and aging. It also blocks free radicals from damaging cholesterol in your body. You see, every cell in your body needs a certain amount of cholesterol, but when attacked by free radicals, it becomes oxidized (or unstable). And cholesterol, once it has oxidized, can stick to blood vessel walls and lead to atherosclerosis. But eating a handful of sunflower seeds each day will give your body the tools it needs to flush out these unstable molecules.

But that's not all...'
